Gerald is the founder and general manager of the Side Street Circus. He was fifteen years old when he made his first professional appearance as an entertainer. Gerald holds a Master's degree in music from Texas Tech University and studied at the University of the Americas in Mexico City. The Fort Worth Star Telegram described him as, "one of the top sleight-of-hand experts in the world. . . a phenomenal artist. . . a sleight-of-hand virtuoso." Gerald has numerous published works on the art of sleight-of-hand, including the highly acclaimed book; "The Ostrich Factor" and was a columnist for M-U-M magazine. He is past President of the Texas Association of Magicians, past President of Ring 15 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and twice received the Brotherhood's Ren Clark Award. He has three published works on the art of sleight-of-hand, is past President of the Texas Association of Magicians, past President of Ring 15 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and twice received the Brotherhood's Ren Clark Award. In 1997, he was awarded the highly prized Linking Ring Trophy the "Academy Award of Magic" by The International Brotherhood of Magicians for his creative contributions to the art. In addition to numerous solo performances from Los Angeles to Washington D.C., Las Vegas to the Foro Cultural Azcapotzalco in Mexico City, he has appeared as magician, juggler, mime, musician with the Cucurucu Mime Troupe, The Token Mime Theater, The Gemkay Puppet Theater, Bring on the Clowns, Tales from the Forest, The Real World of Make-Believe and The Sadstone-Jocomo Duo. ANDY
COOPER "Pepe"

Andy is a graduate of University of North Texas School of Music. He has toured on the Christian Coffee House Circuit as singer, composer, and guitarist, appeared on television and radio with "The First Three" band. He is a multi-instrumentalist in a number of bands including his own Gypsy Swing band "Le Not So Hot Klub de Denton". His “Hot Klub” is a popular attraction at the nationally acclaimed Denton Art's and Jazz Festival. He plays clarinet with "The Argyle Wind Quintet", and he is a part of the popular Mr. Joe Trio. Andy has also sat in with the Grammy winning band "Brave Combo" and is a regular with "Miss Polly and Her Tiny Big Band". Andy's musical antics with the mandolin, tuba, clarinet and a variety of other instruments have been a terrific addition to The Side Street Circus for twenty five years. |
RODNEY
BARTON "Ooops"

Rodney (a.k.a."Ooops the Juggler") is a musician of over 40 years who plays the tuba, mandolin, guitar and penny whistle with The Side Street Circus. Rodney has been juggling for 25 years specializing in hat manipulation, devil stick and ball juggling. He also performs solo, with his wife, Cathy as "Ooops and Oh No!". He is a member of the International Jugglers Association and Coordinator and founder of the Denton Jugglers Association. Rodney has been a valuable aset for the group for twenty years. |
BEN
FARMER "Farini"

Ben Farmer first discovered his passion for performing in middle-school theater productions. He has appeared in numerous plays including "The Saga of Katy and the Gambling lady" and "Angst the Life of a Teenager". Ben performs regularly with “Thought for Food”, the popular group skilled in improvisational theater. While pursing a degree in Radio, Television and Film at the University of North Texas, Ben has developed his skills as an escape artist, magician, and actor. He is the newest addition to the Side Street Circus. Ben appears as “Farini”, performing mindreading, magic and a dramatic escape from a regulation straight jacket. |
CATHY
BARTON "Oh No"

Cathy (a.k.a."Oh No! the Juggler) has been juggling for 10 years. She and Rodney combine their juggling skills as "Ooops and Oh No!" with the Side Street Circus. Cathy contributes to The Side Street Circus rhythm section playing a variety of percussion instruments. She occasionally plays the clarinet. An accomplished middle eastern dancer, when not performing with The Side Street Circus, she performs as "Catalina" in the Leil Nahar Middle Eastern Dance Troupe. She is also a member of the International Jugglers Association and the Denton Jugglers Association. |
TERESA
COOPER
Teresa is a graduate of the University of North Texas School with a Masters degree in Dance, Drama, and Rehabilitation. She teaches dance at UNT and at 'A Time To Dance' studio. Teresa loves to work with children, and uses her storytelling and dance skills in performance with the Side Street Circus. Teresa has wide experience as a dancer and is instrumental in teaching ethnic and folk dances which are performed by the Side Street Circus Band.
